Picture the moment a patient receives a diagnosis that changes everything, and the radiographer who made it possible. Diagnostic radiographers sit at the heart of modern medicine, using imaging technology to give clinicians the answers they need. The Access to HE Diploma (Radiography) is your route into that profession.
This Level 3 qualification is awarded by OCN London, a QAA-recognised Access Validating Agency. It is for adults aged 19 and over who want to enter a Diagnostic Radiography BSc (Hons) or Therapeutic Radiography BSc (Hons) at a UK university but do not hold traditional A levels.
Studied 100% online over 12 months, the diploma earns up to 144 UCAS points, the same as three A levels at grade A*. You study human anatomy, physics of medical imaging, pathology, and the professional context of radiography practice. All of this maps directly to what universities expect from a year-one radiography student.
Diagnostic and therapeutic radiography are among the most in-demand allied health professions in the NHS. HCPC-registered radiographers enter the workforce at Band 5 (£28,407) and can progress to Band 8 consultant roles.
You will be supported by a dedicated subject tutor throughout. Every assignment receives written feedback within 2 working days. There are no exams, the diploma is fully coursework and portfolio assessed. You can resubmit work to reach the grade you want.
Radiography is among the most technically precise of the allied health professions, and the universities that offer it look for analytical thinking, scientific curiosity, and attention to detail alongside compassion. This diploma builds all of those qualities systematically across 16 units.
If you have the drive to retrain as a radiographer but no traditional A levels, this is your route. Start anytime, pay £99 a month interest-free, and study around your existing commitments. Up to 144 UCAS points. One year. No exams.
